This fabric tells a story deeply rooted in West African memory. The striped pattern on AN015 strongly echoes the iconic Ghana Must Go bags – large plastic sacks that became symbolic during one of the region's biggest mass migrations.
In 1983, during an economic downturn and rising tensions, the Nigerian government ordered the expulsion of around 2 million migrants, mostly Ghanaians. Carrying their belongings in these cheap striped bags, people fled overnight – and the term "Ghana Must Go" was born.
Today, the pattern has become part of African visual culture – a quiet reminder of resilience, survival and history.
